Origins: The Contemporary Awakening of Eastern Aesthetics

The use of pearls in jewelry in ancient China dates back over 3,000 years. As recorded in Guang Zhi Jing Yuan citing Zhuang Tai Ji: "King Wen of Zhou adorned his crown with dragon-shaped pearl ornaments and lead powder, creating a towering hairstyle named Phoenix Crown." By the Qin and Han dynasties, pearls had become ubiquitous in royal and aristocratic circles, adorning the heads of emperors, consorts, palace maids, and noblewomen.
The Tang Dynasty earrings in the collection of Yangzhou Museum, crafted using flower-thread inlay techniques, feature two pearls at the junction of the earring hook and pendant, with a cascading strand of gemstones below—a testament to China’s enduring legacy of pearl craftsmanship.
In modern China, the spiritual essence of natural pearls and minerals has been woven into the DNA of Eastern artisans in the millennia-old water towns of the Yangtze River Delta. In 1988, a young artisan discovered an irregular natural pearl in a Zhejiang Zhuji pearl farm. Its undulating patterns resembled mountain ranges, and its luster mirrored moonlight. In that moment, he realized: Imperfections in natural materials are the ultimate expressions of uniqueness.
From pearl cultivation to jewelry design, this artisan spent three decades perfecting the "High-Luster Pearl Selection Criteria" and a Baroque aesthetic language. Today, KW Collection inherits this ethos, blending Chinese craftsmanship with contemporary Western aesthetics. Using pearls and natural minerals as canvases, and silver as the brushstroke, we craft jewelry that narrates the natural epic behind every piece.

Philosophy of Craft
Symbiosis with Nature, Timeless Handwork

Material Philosophy
We reject mass production, sourcing only wild Chinese seawater pearls and rare minerals. Each pearl’s iridescence and each mineral’s texture are gifts of billion-year geological movements. Rejecting rigid symmetry, we embrace "imperfect perfection"—luxury lies in honoring nature’s raw, untamed beauty.

Craftsmanship Philosophy
Li, a silversmith from Yunnan, inherits a five-generation tradition of chasing and repoussé techniques. Using hand-forged hammers, he molds silver sheets into fluid curves to cradle the organic holes of mineral pendants—a philosophy echoing pearls’ "effortless radiance."

Baroque Inspiration
From Venice’s domed cathedrals to Parisian Rococo gardens, Baroque art teaches us: Beauty thrives in asymmetry; freedom is eternal. Our designers collide minerals’ rugged textures with pearls’ soft sheen, creating pieces as dramatically poetic as Bernini’s Ecstasy of Saint Teresa.
